Creamy Cheese Frosting


Creamy Cheese Frosting

Smooth fluffy and perfect for cakes cookies and cupcakes

Serves Makes enough for one cake
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time Zero minutes

Ingredients

  • 115 g unsalted butter softened
  • 220 g block style cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Half teaspoon cooking salt
  • 4 cups sifted icing sugar about 500 g

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl beat the softened butter and cream cheese together on medium speed until smooth and fluffy about two to three minutes. Scrape the sides halfway through.
  2. Add the vanilla extract salt and icing sugar. Start on low speed then increase to high for one full minute scraping down the bowl halfway through.
  3. Use immediately on a completely cooled cake or cupcakes. If the cake is warm the frosting will melt.

Tips
  • For a firmer frosting refrigerate for ten minutes before piping.
  • If it becomes too soft add one to two tablespoons extra icing sugar.
  • Use block cream cheese only. Spreadable tubs will make it runny.
Storage

Store in the fridge for up to three days. Bring to room temperature before using so it becomes soft and spreadable.
